My first landscape photos are of a sunset on Lake Michigan. There is also an abundance of dark in the image with the dark green vegetation and clouds above the horizon. I particularly liked how the horizon glows crimson but there is a layer of grey with the clouds directly above it. When I took the photo I also wanted to focus on how pretty the sky looked over the water. So the other aspects of the photo such as the close foreground is darker to create more of an emphasis on the sky and lake.
Local Jungle
For my second photo I took pictures of a nearby wooded area. I wanted to focus on the wild aspect with trees and branches that have naturally piled up over time. There is also a clear difference in colors with parts of the ground in either dark or light brown. But the vegetation surrounding it is either light or dark green. I also made sure the trees in the background were highlighted. In my other photo I made sure there was more lighting in the background so that the leaves of the trees kinda glowed while the dark plants on the ground didn't.
Island Coastline
In my third image I used another picture from the beach. But in this picture rather than focus on the sun I wanted to focus on the nearby peninsula and coast line. Theres also different layers to the image. For example you have the dune, lake, coastline, clouds, then the open sky. In my second photo I found a photo of a different day with just the sun and water. Here I waited until it looked like the sun was peering out of the clouds with small rays branching out, kind of trying to break free from the darker looming clouds.
Calm waters
In this photo I found a small bay where the water was extremely calm and appeared still. I also liked how the area leading up to the water was very plain and not distracting. In the second image I liked how the sun reflected off the water and it looked like a beam of light from the sky touching the water. For the first image the stillness of the water was my main focus so a plain background with little to no obvious distractions. In the second photo I used the same area but this time found an angle where the sun light hitting the water was reflected at an angle where the camera could capture it.
Sunset Beach Walk
For my final photo I used a the same beach from the first photos. But this time instead of taking a photo from off of the beach this one is at an angle where you can see the rest of the beaches coast and the sun slowly fading away into the horizon. In this image I really liked how the sun reflected in the water creeping towards the beach. I also liked how the sky and water specifically blend from both angles. In the second photo I liked how the sun reflected directly into the camera creating a natural leading lines across the horizon and to the camera lens.
